INSURANCE TERMS

Authorisation:
Peart Insurance Brokers Ltd is an Independent Insurance Intermediary (Broker). We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), our reference number is 307704. Details can be checked by visiting their website www.fsa.gov.uk or by contacting them on 0845 606 1234.

Level of Service and Products Offered:
In relation to the general insurance products we offer, we can provide advice or information:
a) on the basis of a fair analysis of the market; or
b) from a limited number of insurers; or
c) from a single insurer.
We will provide you with a statement setting out your demands and needs, which will confirm whether we have made a personal recommendation and, if so, explaining the reasons for our recommendation.

Duty of Disclosure:
Your attention is drawn to the importance of the information you initially disclose to us, in order to obtain a quotation. The information provided forms the basis of the premium, terms and conditions quoted to you at the outset and the indemnity provided by the insurer concerned. Insurers reserve the right to amend any terms, conditions or premiums quoted or to decline a risk in its entirety. It is imperative that any information given is true and accurate, as undisclosed information could invalidate your insurance and lead to claims not being met. Should any facts previously provided change at any time after the policy has been incepted; it is your duty to immediately disclose these facts to us your agent.

Risk Transfer:
Peart Insurance Brokers Ltd acts as agents for a number of insurers for the collection and refunds of premiums. This means that premiums are treated as being received by these insurers when received in our bank account and that any premium refund is treated as received by you when it is actually paid over to you.

Cancelling Your Insurance:
You may cancel your insurance arrangement at any time, by informing us in writing, and returning your certificate of insurance or cover note. It is recommended that you contact us prior to cancellation in order that we can advise you on the likely outcome of your decision. If a claim has been intimated under the contract in question, your insurer will invariably not allow any refund of premium following a cancellation instruction being received. Refunds will not normally be given for cancellation of any motor contract which has been underwritten on a 'Limited Mileage' basis. Any commission element of the contract, administrative fees previously charged, uninsured loss and legal expenses and Peart Emergency Assistance are also non refundable. Full details of specific cancellation charges made by the insurer are contained within your policy documentation. Please note that where a premium is being paid by instalments, cancellation of a direct debit instruction is NOT deemed to be a cancellation instruction on your policy.

Charges:
As independent insurance intermediaries, we are paid commission by your Insurance Company. In addition to the premiums charged by the insurer, we may, at our discretion, apply a range of charges for administrative work carried out on your behalf. Currently the charges applied in respect of certain specified actions are as follow:

  • New Policy Arrangement/Renewal/Mid Term Adjustments/Cancellation of Policy: £25.00
Additional facilities:
  • Uninsured Loss & Legal cover £22.00
Peart Insurance 24 Hour Emergency Assistance;
  • Private Cars: £35.00
  • Classic Car/Motorcycles: £25.00

In the event that a debt needs to be recovered by our collection agents, we reserve the right to add a £30.00 administrative fee to the debt in order to cover the collection costs.

Claims Procedure:
If you have been involved in an accident or have suffered a loss under any other insurance contract arranged via this company, please contact us immediately, and we will supply you with the necessary details. Alternatively consult your policy booklet for the contact details of your insurer's claim help line. If you have been involved in an accident which you deem not to have been your fault, and you have taken out our Uninsured Loss & Legal Protection Policy, it may also be necessary to contact Donns LLP who will act as your agent in the recovery of your uninsured losses (such as policy excess/personal injury/loss of income). Your documentation (if purchased) will be forwarded to you at the time we send your initial documentation
