NOBLE HISTORY
Noble Automotive Ltd is a highly rated, low-production British Sports Car manufacturer, established in 1999 by Lee Noble, who is both the chief designer and owner of the company, in Leicestershire. Lee Noble had already made a name for himself as a racing driver over a decade previous to establishing Noble Automotive, racing a Renault-engined Lotus Europa to a series of podium finishes and wins.
One of the key features in Noble’s designs is the stiff and light steel frame. The body of a Noble car is made in South Africa by Hi-Tech Automotive in Port Elizabeth. Once complete it is then sent to the Noble factory in Barwell in the UK to have the engine, suspension etc. fitted.
The M10 was first test driven by Autocar who were immediately won over. Nobel kept the Lotus Elise-beating chassis of the M10, but otherwise refined the vehicle to create the Noble M12. Once again Autocar were first in on the test drives, and applauded the handling, styling and overall performance of the vehicle. Since then Autocar has awarded the Noble M12 winner of the annual Grip Challenge and 2nd place in the Best Driver’s car contest. Autocar are not alone in their praise, Jeremy Clarkson voted the Noble M12 his Driver’s car of the year in both 2001, and again in 2002. Following that in December 2003, Jeremy Clarkson stated on Top Gear that Noble was his favourite British car.
